The S&P Global Energy Commodity Associate Program is a seven-month rotational development program with cohorts beginning in March and September 2027. It starts with four weeks of structured training, followed by two three-month rotations across different commodity sectors. Participants gain broad exposure to energy and commodity markets before moving into a permanent price-reporting role. Rotations and final placements are based on business needs; candidates who meet expectations and perform well may be offered permanent full-time employment at the end of the program. The position is based in Houston and is part of the Platts price reporting team. Associates learn foundational skills for price reporting, including gathering market intelligence, applying established price-assessment methodologies, and writing market commentary and news. The work involves examining topics such as supply and demand, infrastructure, geopolitics, transportation, and regulation, and how they affect commodity markets. Market exposure may include oil, power, natural gas, LNG, coal, petrochemicals, metals, agriculture, and shipping. Associates contribute to market coverage and insight gathering through relationships with market participants, and collaborate with editorial, analytics, and research teams. They are expected to use approved AI and digital tools responsibly to improve research and workflows while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and editorial standards. Candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree by February 2027 for the March intake or by August 2027 for the September intake; postgraduate students are also encouraged to apply.
