The S&P Global Energy Commodity Associate Program is a seven-month rotational development program with cohorts beginning in March and September 2027. Participants complete four weeks of structured training followed by two three-month rotations across different commodity sectors. The program develops foundational skills in commodity markets, price reporting, market analysis, commentary writing, and news production, and prepares participants to transition into a permanent price reporting role. Permanent placements and rotations depend on business needs; participants who meet expectations and perform well will be offered full-time permanent employment at the end of the program. Based in Houston, associates join the Platts price reporting team and develop specialist knowledge in the markets to which they are assigned. They gather market intelligence from participants and public sources, conduct price assessments using established methodologies, and contribute market commentary and news that informs pricing benchmarks and analytics. The role offers exposure to topics such as supply and demand, infrastructure, geopolitics, transportation, and regulation, and to markets including oil, power, natural gas, LNG, coal, petrochemicals, metals, agriculture, and shipping. Candidates for the March 2027 intake must have completed an undergraduate degree by February 2027; candidates for the September 2027 intake must complete their undergraduate degree by August 2027. Postgraduate students are also encouraged to apply. Students from all academic backgrounds are welcome, with particular value placed on relevant fields including journalism, communications, business, economics, English, data analytics, sciences, engineering, energy studies, finance, and commodity-related disciplines.
