About The Position

Nordstrom is hiring seasonal and regular commission sales employees at The Mall at Short Hills. This professional sales role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, building customer relationships, meeting personal sales goals, and creating a welcoming shopping experience. Depending on department, employees may help customers shop for women’s apparel, shoes, men’s apparel, kids’ apparel and shoes, jewelry, handbags, accessories, or luggage. The work includes providing styling, fit, sizing, and product guidance; recommending relevant items; and following up with customers to encourage loyalty and repeat business. Employees use Nordstrom’s 5-Point Selling Standard: Say Hello, Small Talk, Be Helpful & Sell, Fashion Authority, and Follow-up. They build a personal customer base through in-store interactions, outreach, and digital tools, including the 2-2-2 follow-up method, Nordy Club enrollment, and Personal Book. They also help keep the department customer-ready and contribute to a positive, productive team environment. Scheduling varies with business needs and can include evenings, weekends, holidays, event shifts, and occasional support for other departments. Commission rates vary by merchandise; apparel, shoes, and accessories typically range from 3% to 14.5%.
