About The Position
Kitchen Prep Cooks work primarily in the Commissary department, preparing high-quality meals that serve as the foundation for Joseph’s Classic Market’s signature dishes. They follow recipes and maintain quality, consistency, efficiency, freshness, and sanitation standards before products are delivered to stores. The work takes place inside a preparation room and a refrigerated cooler, with exposure to temperature changes and frequent interaction with fellow employees. It involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting products weighing up to 80 pounds.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems.
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must be able to speak Spanish.
- Food preparation experience.
- A passion for serving people.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Joseph’s standards for product freshness and sanitation.
- Prepare and execute recipes for proteins, vegetables, starches, and other items.
- Package and label products.
- Operate knives, ovens, stoves, grills, scales, wrapping machines, and other kitchen equipment.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned.
