About The Position

The Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician performs scheduled and contract maintenance on commercial and light industrial refrigeration systems at client facilities. This role also assists with installations, start-ups, and commissioning of refrigeration systems. The technician will work closely with service coordinators and sales staff to build client relationships and provide recommendations for service or equipment replacement. Customers include cold storage, distribution, and production facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Technical/trade school certificate in refrigeration. Advanced education within IR 1-19/ CR 1-20 modules.
  • Advanced OEM training for equipment start-up and service.
  • Must complete all required safety and equipment training.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong drive to learn and grow.
  • Travel up to 90% locally in the service branch area with a company vehicle (includes travel from home to job sites and to/from the service branch).
  • EPA certification is required.
  • OSHA 10 hour certification.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • CO2 Refrigeration experience desired.
  • OEM equipment start-up and maintenance training preferred (additional will be provided).
  • Will be trained/certified to operate a lull, scissor lift and forklift truck.

Responsibilities

  • Executes routine maintenance, contractual planned maintenance, and emergency service work independently or with apprentice assistance.
  • Completes service reports for planned service and maintenance contracts for Service Supervisor and Coordinator follow-up.
  • Supports customers with troubleshooting commercial/industrial refrigeration systems and equipment, including control systems, for facility refrigeration issues.
  • Works on split and parallel rack systems holding 80 plus lbs. of refrigerant, chillers, packaged units, and control systems.
  • Uses tablet-based service ticket software to complete assigned tasks in daily Work Orders (WO).
  • Prepares and submits all time/Work Order reports daily, including accurate notes on follow-up needs and required materials.
  • Ensures Service Coordinator has proper information for accurate and timely client billing, including receipts for expenses.
  • Communicates with Service Supervisors and Service Managers to resolve open issues at customer sites.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor when working at client facilities.
  • Maintains current licenses required to perform services.
  • Performs other duties as required by service leads and service manager.
