WIN Waste Innovations•Norton, MA

About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Commercial Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front- or rear-end load lift attachments. The driver collects containers filled with waste or recyclable material and transports the contents to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when the truck reaches legal load capacity. Some containers weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup staging area. The work involves navigating high-traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and requires skilled backing maneuvers. The position requires compliance with company safety rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and applicable laws. Drivers inspect and document their vehicles, communicate service issues and customer requests, maintain container placement and cleanliness at customer locations, complete route and end-of-day documentation, and work with Route Managers and Dispatch to meet customer needs. The normal work setting is outdoors and/or in a video- and GPS-monitored vehicle. Employees are exposed to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes or similar conditions for much of the workday. The role requires frequent handling of objects weighing more than 50 pounds and pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to use arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity for motor coordination.
  • Ability to frequently exert physical effort handling objects over 50 pounds, and to push, pull, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the vehicle in accordance with WIN Waste's Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and document them using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
  • Immediately report unsafe situations and service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WIN or directed by the Route Manager.
  • Work with the Route Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices.
  • Notify the Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.

  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
  • Identify and report containers that need repair or replacement.
  • Reconcile the number of containers on the route with the service level listed on the service list.
  • Completely empty containers and leave customer locations clean and free of debris.
  • Complete and submit customer tickets when excessive yardage must be removed.
  • Position and return containers on customer property with lids properly replaced, enclosure doors closed and secured, and driveways and traffic unobstructed.
