About The Position

SouthState’s 10-week Commercial Banking Internship Program gives undergraduate students an introduction to commercial banking operations, strategies, and career opportunities. Interns work alongside experienced Commercial Banking professionals and gain hands-on exposure to financial solutions, banking processes, and industry insights. The program includes onboarding, professional development, analytical training, mentorship, a speaker series, networking, and community involvement. The position is onsite in an office environment five days a week, 40 hours per week, at 34 Broad St, Charleston, South Carolina 29401.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Rising senior graduating in 2028.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Able to access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports, and to spend extended time using a computer, with sitting or standing at an appropriate desk.

Nice To Haves

• A 3.4 GPA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in internship program activities, including workshops, training sessions, and special projects.
• Conduct market research and financial analysis to identify client needs and recommend tailored banking solutions.
• Assist with financial spreads, due diligence on potential borrowers or guarantors, and loan document reviews to support client transactions.
• Collaborate with relationship managers, credit analysts, and team leaders on real-time business initiatives.
• Support marketing activities to enhance client engagement and promote banking services.
• Prioritize tasks, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Complete mandatory new hire compliance training and New Employee Orientation.
