About The Position

SouthState’s Commercial Banking Internship Program is a 10-week experience for undergraduate students, providing an introduction to Commercial Banking operations, strategies, and career opportunities. Interns work with experienced Commercial Banking professionals and gain hands-on exposure to financial solutions, industry insights, and processes that support client success and community impact.

The program includes onboarding, practical team experience, mentorship, a senior-leader speaker series, networking, professional development, analytical training, and community involvement. Interns build an understanding of SouthState’s corporate and credit culture while contributing to projects and business activities.

This is an onsite office position, five days a week, for 40 hours a week, at 200 East Broad Street, Suite 100, Greenville, South Carolina 29601.

Requirements

• Be a current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Be a rising senior graduating in 2028.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Have a strong analytical mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Be detail-oriented and proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure.

Nice To Haves

• A 3.4 GPA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in internship program activities, including workshops, training sessions, and special projects.
• Conduct market research and financial analysis to identify client needs and recommend tailored banking solutions.
• Assist with financial spreads, due diligence on potential borrowers or guarantors, and loan document reviews to support client transactions.
• Collaborate with relationship managers, credit analysts, and team leaders on real-time business initiatives.
• Support marketing activities to enhance client engagement and promote banking services.
• Prioritize tasks, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Complete mandatory new-hire compliance training and New Employee Orientation.
