About The Position

The Collections Specialist communicates with customers at various stages of collections to maximize collections results and minimize expenses. The role provides superior customer service by building relationships with customers and adding value to every interaction. The position manages overdue invoices, handles customer inquiries and payment arrangements, supports dispute resolution, and works with internal teams to resolve credit issues.

Requirements

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
Good numeracy skills.
Proactive communication skills and the ability to influence others.
Ability to produce high-quality work under pressure and within tight timescales.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
Strong team player with a flexible attitude to work priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good computer skills, including MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

Manage collection and resolution of overdue invoices.
Make daily collections calls to identified accounts.
Answer customer calls responsively, accurately, and in a timely manner; counsel customers on mutually agreed payment schedules to help avoid referral to a collection agency.
Troubleshoot customer problems to minimize escalated calls and research.
Generate aging reports, identify past-due customers, and provide commentary on overdue balances for management review.
Maintain high customer service standards when interacting with the internal sales organization and customers.
Contribute to best practices in credit and collections through superior customer service and process engineering.
Request refund checks and follow up on disputes.
Collaborate with Sales and Contracts to resolve credit issues.
Monitor payments and follow up in a timely manner.
Show initiative and willingness to improve processes, with an emphasis on customer service.
