The Material Handler associate is responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of products, packaging, and raw materials to and from production lines, packaging areas, and trailers. In addition, employees are responsible for producing a safe and quality food product per USDA guidelines. They are required to report all food safety-related problems to their supervisor, manager, or the quality assurance department.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Must have forklift experience.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma/GED is preferred.
  • 1-2 years related work experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP and USDA regulations preferred.
  • Ability to be certified and Operate: Stand Up Forklift Double Reach, Riding Pallet Jack.
  • Ability to Operate Inventory Scanning Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Move pallets of products or supplies within the plant using a forklift as needed.
  • Scan and deliver component pallets to the line with the use of forklift.
  • Weigh combos and place in the cooler as needed.
  • Complete necessary forklift maintenance and associated reports to ensure maximum forklift performance and overall plant safety.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by watching out for foot traffic: following standards and procedures: complying with legal regulations per all forklift operations.
  • Deliver supplies to the designated department as needed.
  • Remove full pallets from packaging lines when completed.
  • Scan and wrap completed pallets.
  • Place license plate on pallet once scanning process is complete.
  • Deliver pallets to shipping area with the use of forklift.
  • Remove excess inventory of boxes and pallets as needed.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Identify and resolve issues with material flow or storage locations to prevent delays or production downtime.
  • Determine the safest and most efficient method to move, stack, or stage materials within limited space.
  • Prioritize daily material handling tasks based on production schedules, inventory levels, and safety requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
