About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Barista to prepare beverages, maintain coffee shop products and cleanliness, and help customers have a positive experience. The role involves working in a fast-paced store coffee shop, serving customers at the counter and by phone, and collaborating with teammates. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, helpful service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list for daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth and positive customer experience.
Follow the dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
