About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will provide friendly customer service, prepare beverages, keep the coffee shop stocked and clean, and help ensure customers receive what they need. The role involves working in a fast-paced coffee shop, connecting with customers, and supporting teammates. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and making visits positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list for daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
