About The Position
As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you’ll prepare beverages, keep the coffee shop stocked and clean, and help ensure customers receive what they came for. The role involves friendly customer service in a fast-paced store coffee shop environment. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
- Communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
- Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
- Complete a pre-employment drug screen.
Nice To Haves
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service.
- Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
- Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
- Monitor product freshness and appearance, and follow or develop a production list to meet daily needs.
- Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area that meets department standards.
- Receive and put away products and review invoices as needed.
- Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
- Remove trash and maintain a tidy department.
- Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
- Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
