About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Coffee Shop Barista to prepare beverages, maintain coffee shop products and cleanliness, and help customers have a positive experience. The role involves working in a fast-paced store coffee shop, taking orders at the counter and by phone, answering questions, and supporting daily department operations. Prior experience is not required; training and support are provided.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition and subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, friendly service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop production lists to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
