About The Position

The Coffee Shop Barista serves customers in a Hy-Vee store coffee shop by preparing and replenishing products, maintaining product freshness and appearance, and keeping the department clean and stocked. The role involves friendly customer service, taking orders at the counter and over the phone, answering questions, processing payments, and working with teammates to provide a positive customer experience. The position may also involve assisting in other store areas and taking on special projects. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly, provide outstanding service, and make each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone; help customers find products and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to anticipate daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and in accordance with department standards.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to ensure a smooth, positive customer experience.
Comply with the dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
