About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will provide friendly customer service, prepare beverages, keep the coffee shop stocked and clean, and help customers find what they need. The role is suited to someone who enjoys connecting with people, working in a fast-paced environment, and contributing to a team. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided. Night and weekend shifts are required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Follow written and verbal instructions.
Use basic math for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Stay organized and keep pace in a busy coffee shop environment.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and making each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance, and follow or develop a production list to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area that meets department standards.
Check in and put away products, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
