Coach - Head HS Wrestling (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)
About The Position
Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, buses, and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with players, parents, coworkers, contest officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom; actions, behavior, and interactions with student athletes should reflect this. This temporary position is located at Cholla High School in the Starr Pass and La Cholla area. It is for the 2026–2027 school year, with the winter season running from November into February. The stipend is prorated for days missed during the sports season due to late starts or early terminations. The position is not eligible for district benefits.
Requirements
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Valid Arizona Substitute Certificate, or Valid Arizona Coaching Certificate (Sport Specific), and NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate, at the employee's expense.
- If qualifying for a varsity head coach position in lieu of a teaching or coaching certificate: Fundamentals of Coaching Course or Coach Level 1, including NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Protecting Students from Abuse, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
- Current NFHS Concussion certificate (Concussion in Sports Course).
- Current ATC Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate; review the PowerPoint and sign a document affirming it has been reviewed.
- Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training or NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate (Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Course).
- Current CPR with AED; online classes are not accepted. An EMT license supersedes this requirement.
- Current First Aid; online classes are not accepted. An EMT license supersedes this requirement.
- Bloodborne pathogen training.
- Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Before the start date, provide proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
