About The Position

Lake Country Veterinary Care is seeking an experienced Doctor of Veterinary Medicine to join an existing veterinary partner in a clinical leadership and co-partnership role, with an opportunity to pursue meaningful ownership through Veterinary Practice Partners (VPP). The successful candidate will help guide the hospital’s clinical direction, support its team, identify growth opportunities, and contribute to its long-term success. Prior ownership experience is not required. The position is at a well-established, full-service small-animal hospital in Marcellus, New York, serving the Central New York community since 1985. Its services include preventive and wellness care, internal medicine, advanced diagnostics, soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, digital and dental radiography, ultrasound and imaging consultations, in-house laboratory testing, therapeutic laser and PRP therapy, rehabilitation, acupuncture, pain management, integrative medicine, oxygen cages, and cardiology consultations. Mobile internal medicine services offer advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, and cystoscopy; optional house-call opportunities are also available. The hospital’s collaborative team includes 3 DVMs, 5 Licensed Veterinary Technicians, 2 Veterinary Assistants, and 3 Client Service Representatives. Doctors typically see 12–14 patients daily with 30-minute appointments. Surgical days may involve 3–5 procedures or 1–2 comprehensive dental procedures, depending on clinical interests and experience. The schedule is 4 days per week plus rotating Saturdays. There are no overnight on-call responsibilities. The role combines clinical practice with shared leadership and business involvement. The veterinarian will work with the existing partner on strategic direction, staffing, operational decisions, financial performance, and sustainable practice growth. VPP offers operational resources in finance, HR, recruiting, marketing, operations, and leadership development, while partner hospitals retain their names and community reputations. Compensation is described as a competitive base salary plus production, profit participation, and a long-term ownership opportunity.
