About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned business and one of North America's largest machine tool distributors, is seeking a CNC Field Service Technician for its Morris South division. This role is crucial for supporting manufacturers of precision machined parts in the southeastern U.S. The company's mission is to enhance manufacturer productivity and competitiveness through advanced CNC machine tools, tooling, software, and automation. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of machine tool equipment and controls, working independently to ensure high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Five years’ experience with CNC machine repair.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other business programs as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job including flexible hours and frequent travel and driving throughout a regional territory.
  • Must be highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises.
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period of times.
  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Fanuc and Siemens controls.

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls.
  • Utilizing machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
  • Ensuring proper documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer regarding the status of machine issues, repairs, and installation.
  • Promoting and performing preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment.
  • Conducting after-sales technical support and training.
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company.
  • Performing related duties as required.
