CNA Hospice Aide
About The Position
Amedisys is hiring a Certified Nurse Assistant hospice aide to provide personal and supportive care to patients in their homes. The role includes assisting with mobility, transfers, positioning, meals, prescribed exercises, and household tasks; observing and documenting patient status; and following written care instructions from a registered nurse. Compensation is $20–$21.50 per hour plus mileage. Benefits begin on the first of the month after hire, although eligibility may vary by position and shift status. Participation in some benefits requires enrollment in an Amedisys medical plan.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, in accordance with state requirements.
- CNA experience within the last two years.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services to patients.
- Use safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
- Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
- Observe, report, and document changes in a patient's status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
- Follow specific written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, and receive the instructions before providing services.
- Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
- Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
