About The Position

The Clothing Clerk helps provide temple patrons with a positive and uplifting experience by laundering, mending, and caring for clothing and linens used in the temple. The role prepares items for use by patrons, workers, and others who enter the temple, and may include serving patrons with clothing and overseeing clothing rental operations.

The position provides guidance and direction to volunteers and service missionaries working in the temple. It typically reports to the Clothing Supervisor.

Requirements

• One year of work experience, preferably in laundry, retail, customer service, or a related area.
• Ability to organize, lead, and manage volunteers.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.
• Ability to focus and stay on task.
• Demonstrated and consistent excellence in customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to be teachable and follow instructions.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and to bend, kneel, stoop, pull, push, and perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to climb a step stool and/or ladder.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial laundry equipment and prepare temple clothing and linens by sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items.
• Train service missionaries and volunteers in daily laundry operations, and oversee their work and prioritization of laundry tasks.
• Serve patrons courteously by providing needed temple clothing in proper sizes and ensuring sufficient clothing is available; may oversee clothing rental operations.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, including routine cleaning of machinery, filters, vents, and screens, and changing washer chemicals as needed.
• Spot-clean clothing with appropriate cleaners and solutions.
• May assist with steam-pressing and other ironing responsibilities.
• May track and maintain daily production records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
