About The Position

The Clothing Clerk cares for temple clothing and linens by laundering, mending, and preparing items for use. The role helps create a positive and uplifting experience for temple patrons and provides guidance and direction to volunteers and service missionaries working in the temple. The position typically reports to the Clothing Supervisor.

The scheduled hours are Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and every other Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of work experience, preferably in laundry, retail, customer service, or a related area.
• Ability to organize, lead, and manage volunteers.
• Ability to follow instructions and be teachable.
• Ability to work well with others and stay focused on tasks.
• Demonstrated and consistent excellence in customer service.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, pull, push, climb a step stool and/or ladder, and perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial laundry equipment and prepare clothing and linens for use in the temple, including sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items.
• Train service missionaries and volunteers in daily laundry operations, and oversee their work and its prioritization.
• Serve patrons courteously by providing temple clothing in appropriate sizes and ensuring sufficient clothing is available; may oversee clothing rental operations.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, including routine cleaning of machinery, filters, vents, and screens, and change washer chemicals as needed.
• Spot-clean clothing using appropriate cleaners and solutions.
• May assist with steam-pressing and other ironing responsibilities.
• May track and maintain daily production records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
