About The Position

The Clothing Clerk helps provide patrons with a positive and uplifting temple experience by laundering, mending, and caring for clothing and linens used in the temple. The role typically reports to the Clothing Supervisor and provides guidance and direction to volunteers and service missionaries working in the temple.

The schedule is Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and every other Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of work experience, preferably in laundry, retail, customer service, or a related area.
• Ability to organize, lead, and manage volunteers.
• Ability to follow instructions and be teachable.
• Ability to work well with others and stay focused on tasks.
• Demonstrated and consistent excellence in customer service.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment, including bending, kneeling, stooping, pulling, and pushing.
• Ability to climb a step stool and/or ladder and stand for long periods.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be a member of the Church and worthy of a temple recommend to qualify for employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial laundry equipment and prepare clothing and linens for temple use by sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items for patrons, workers, and others.
• Train service missionaries and volunteers in daily laundry operations, and oversee their work and priorities.
• Courteously assist patrons with temple clothing in appropriate sizes and ensure sufficient clothing is available; may oversee clothing rental operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, including routine cleaning of machinery, filters, vents, and screens, and change washer chemicals as needed.
• Spot-clean clothing using appropriate cleaners and solutions.
• May assist with steam-pressing and other ironing responsibilities.
• May track and maintain daily production records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
