About The Position

The Clinical Team Leader provides direct patient care as the charge nurse and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment. The role provides frontline leadership and decision-making for departmental staff, oversees shift operations and staffing, coordinates patient flow, and supports departmental and organizational objectives. This position is for the Neuro/Trauma Intermediate Care unit on a 7 p.m.–7 a.m. schedule, three 12-hour night shifts per week.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN required.
• Completion of charge nurse training and competencies; external hires must complete these within 90 days of hire.
• Current RN license in Texas or a compact license.
• Clinical course certifications consistent with RN requirements for the specific clinical area, such as Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardio Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or NRP.
• Advanced specialty certification, such as CCRN, CEN, or RNC, or agreement to obtain one within two years.

Responsibilities

• Provides frontline leadership and decision-making for departmental staff, ensuring the quality and integrity of care delivered.
• Develops unit staffing plans based on patient acuity and care needs and oversees day-to-day operations on the designated shift.
• Monitors workflow and adjusts staffing to support the unit’s fiscal goals.
• Coordinates and facilitates efficient patient flow, including timely admissions to and discharges from the unit.
• Assists the manager in achieving and sustaining department and organizational objectives, including patient experience, length of stay, and unit- or patient-specific quality measures.
• Participates in department-specific initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Participates in peer interviews and provides feedback for employee evaluations as requested by the manager.
• Assists with occurrence investigations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
