About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is hiring a Nurse Apprentice to join its Neuro Surgical Trauma Unit, which includes 18 critical care beds and 17 step-down beds. The unit cares for postoperative patients and patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, seizures, strokes, and other neurological disorders. The role supports clinical staff at the unit level through clerical, receptionist, and patient service coordination. It also provides nursing care and related non-professional services to meet patients’ personal needs and comfort, as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP), under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts within a two-week period, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The role requires availability for a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

Certified Nursing Assistant certification issued by the State of Idaho, or completion of the Trinity Nursing Assistant Program.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network at hire, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
Availability for a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

Six months of patient care experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

Support clinical staff at the unit level by performing clerical, receptionist, and patient service coordination.
Perform nursing care services and related non-professional services to address patients’ personal needs and comfort under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for assigned age groups: neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, as applicable.
