About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is hiring a Nurse Apprentice for its Neuro Surgical Trauma Unit, which has 18 critical care beds and 17 step-down beds. The unit cares for postoperative patients and patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, seizures, strokes, and other neurological disorders. The position is part time and scheduled for three 12-hour shifts within a two-week period, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The apprentice must be available for a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed. The role supports clinical staff at the unit level through clerical, receptionist, and patient-service coordination, and provides nursing care and related nonprofessional services to meet patients’ personal needs and comfort as a CNA or UAP, under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.

Requirements

Maintain a current Nurse Apprentice application on file with the Idaho State Board.
Hold Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network at hire, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for assigned age groups: neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, as applicable.

Six months of patient care experience in an acute care setting.
