About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is hiring a Nurse Apprentice for its Neuro Surgical Trauma Unit, which has 18 critical care beds and 17 step-down beds. The unit cares for postoperative patients and patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, seizures, strokes, and other neurological disorders. This PRN role supports clinical staff at the unit level through clerical, receptionist, and patient-service coordination. The Nurse Apprentice also performs nursing-care and related non-professional services to support patients’ personal needs and comfort, similar to the work of a Certified Nursing Assistant or Unlicensed Assistive Personnel, under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. The schedule is flexible and may include weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

Maintain a current Nurse Apprentice application on file with the Idaho State Board.
Hold Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network at hire, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for assigned age groups: neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, as applicable.

Nice To Haves

Six months of patient-care experience in an acute-care setting.
