About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Neuro Trauma Critical Care Unit at Methodist Hospital. The unit is part of a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, and provides emergency services and 24/7 customized, monitored treatments for patients with serious neurological conditions, including brain injuries, aneurysms, and severe strokes.

The 33-bed unit cares for a diverse neurosurgical, neurotrauma, neuroradiology, and medical neurological patient population. Nurses work with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-acuity care, prioritize quality, and advocate for the best possible patient outcomes. The position is full-time on the night shift. Nursing skills developed in this role include assessment, critical thinking, care prioritization, and neurological assessment.

Requirements

• Associate of Nursing (ASN).
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program. Candidates without graduation from a nationally accredited program may be considered with more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required according to unit or department specialty and patient care policies.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with brain injuries, aneurysms, severe strokes, and other complex neurological conditions.
• Deliver emergency services and participate in customized, monitored treatment for patients in neurocritical care.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and advocate for the best possible patient outcomes.
• Apply assessment, critical-thinking, care-prioritization, and neurological-assessment skills.
