Provides basic patient care and clerical support within an assigned area(s). Performing activities of daily living, obtaining vital signs, maintaining a safe and patient and family-centered care environment. Assists pathologists in the performance of autopsies including receipt, identification, release and move of the deceased. Maintains morgue, autopsy room, gross-in area and equipment. Logs, codes and assigns accession numbers on all cases and specimens received for identification and recording purposes. Assesses order acceptability. Receives, prepares, processes, reagents, autopsy/surgical tissues, and stores supplies, stock rotation and monitoring, disposes of supplies. Maintains equipment quality control including calibrations and back-up instrumentation. Provides documentation, inventory, orders, and files. Prepares and/or assists in the research development, policies and procedures development and process improvement. Performs other duties as assigned.
