Youth Villages offers paid internship opportunities for master’s students in select residential and community-based programs. Placement is determined during the interview process based on availability, academic requirements, and the applicant’s experience. Youth Villages works with interns and their academic programs to design an internship that meets practicum needs and class schedules and supports earning course credit. Internships also provide professional experience beyond academic requirements. The role is based in Springfield, Massachusetts, for the Spring 2027 semester. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. The hourly pay rate is $25. The intern shadows counselors during home- and community-based family sessions, carries a reduced caseload, implements interventions, and facilitates individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions using evidence-based practices. The intern participates in weekly meetings and clinical training to develop clinical skills, provides transportation as needed, and completes timely, accurate documentation in an electronic medical record system. Applicants must be actively pursuing a master’s degree in a social services discipline. A current, valid driver’s license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance are required. Community-based staff are reimbursed for applicable mileage.
