Youth Villages offers a paid internship for students actively pursuing a master's degree in a social services discipline. Internship placements are determined during the interview process based on program availability, academic requirements, and the applicant's experience. Youth Villages collaborates with students and their academic programs to accommodate practicum needs and class schedules so students can obtain course credit. Internships provide hands-on professional experience in residential and community-based programs. The intern shadows counselors during home- and community-based family sessions, carries a reduced caseload, implements interventions, and facilitates individual, group, and/or family therapy. The intern uses evidence-based practices, participates in weekly professional-development meetings and clinical trainings, provides transportation as needed, and completes timely and accurate documentation in an electronic medical record system. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance. Applicable mileage is reimbursed for community-based staff.
