Youth Villages offers paid internship opportunities for master's students in select residential and community-based programs. Internship placements are determined during the interview process based on availability, academic requirements, and the applicant’s experience. Youth Villages collaborates with interns and their academic programs to design placements that meet practicum needs and fit class schedules so interns can obtain course credit. Internships also provide professional experience beyond academic requirements. Placements are offered during fall and spring semesters, with select summer opportunities in Tennessee. Offers are extended on a rolling basis and spots are limited. The Master's Level Intern shadows counselors during home- and community-based family sessions, carries a reduced caseload, implements interventions, and facilitates individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions using evidence-based practices. The intern attends weekly professional-development meetings, accesses clinical trainings, provides transportation as needed, and completes accurate, timely documentation in an electronic medical record system. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. The position pays $25 per hour. Applicants must have a current, valid driver’s license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance. Community-based staff are reimbursed for applicable mileage.
