About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing (Grant) to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. This is a temporary, full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position funded through a federal grant. Primary duties will include creating the virtual simulation scenarios; implementing the immersive virtual simulation as part of clinical and for remediation; conduct training for faculty on the use of immersive virtual simulation; and evaluate the simulations as it relates to student learning outcomes. Duties also include providing service, as needed, to the department, college, and university. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Requirements

  • Master's degree or graduate hours demonstrating significant progress toward the completion of a master's in nursing
  • 3 or more years of clinical nursing experience
  • A current unrestricted/unencumbered license to practice registered nursing within the State of Texas
  • If advanced practice nurses, must meet and have all certification required for their specialty
