About The Position

The University of Southern California’s Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is seeking a Clinic Assistant to enhance patient experience at the USC Physical Therapy clinic at the University Park Campus. This 12-month fixed-term position may be extended. The Clinic Assistant supports physical therapists by improving clinic efficiency and completing patient-related and non-patient-related tasks. The role includes scheduling and patient-flow coordination, preparing charts and exam rooms, assisting clinicians as requested, serving as a medical chaperone during sensitive examinations or treatments, and maintaining records and supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience; combined education and experience may substitute for the minimum experience.
• Medical office management and medical secretarial experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments, answer general questions, and obtain authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services.
• Schedule appointments with ancillary departments or other care providers as needed and maintain providers’ master calendar.
• Prepare patient charts before appointments.
• Set up exam rooms, assist clinicians with examinations as needed, and monitor patient flow.
• Prepare the physical environment and perform patient-related and non-patient-related tasks as assigned or requested by providers.
• Serve as a medical chaperone by setting up rooms and equipment and being physically present to assist the provider and/or patient and observe physical contact during sensitive health examinations or treatments.
• Maintain files and records and oversee equipment and office supply inventory.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
