About The Position

The Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized TJ Maxx store, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-care equipment and performing cleaning tasks throughout the store, while upholding operational, merchandise, loss-prevention, health, safety, and customer-experience standards. Associates are cross-trained in multiple store areas and provide coverage based on business needs.

• Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and operate a floor buffer and scrubber.

• Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Operate the scrubber and buffer and maintain floor-care cleanliness standards.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and recovery standards throughout the Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, restrooms, and other store areas.
• Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms, and Front End.
• Work in other store areas, such as the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor, and respond to Front End coverage needs.
• Model customer-experience practices with internal and external customers and support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards; participate in store recovery as needed.
• Follow operational and loss-prevention controls and company policies, including shrink-reduction guidelines.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
