About The Position

The Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized TJ Maxx store, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-cleaning equipment and cleaning floors, glass, and windows, as well as maintaining cleanliness and recovery standards throughout the store. The associate follows operational, merchandising, loss prevention, health and safety, and labor policies; supports customer experience and store culture; and is cross-trained to help in multiple store areas as business needs require. The role requires physical stamina for cleaning tasks, including operating a floor buffer and scrubber, and the ability to lift heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation. The position is located at TJ Maxx Store 1151 in Barre, Vermont. Starting pay is $15.25 to $15.75 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including maintaining and operating the scrubber and buffer.
Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.
Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the lounge, restrooms, and front end.
Cross-train and work in other store areas, including the backroom, front end, and sales floor, to support business needs.
Support and respond to front-end coverage needs.
Model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers.
Support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
Follow merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
Follow operational and loss prevention controls, including shrink-reduction guidelines and policies.
Communicate accurately and effectively with management and associates.
Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
