About The Position

The Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized TJ Maxx store, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-cleaning equipment and performing dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning glass and windows. The associate maintains cleanliness, organization, recovery, health and safety, merchandising, operational, and loss prevention standards throughout the store, and is cross-trained to support multiple areas and respond to business needs. The position is seasonal and temporary.

• Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and operate a floor buffer and scrubber.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including operating and maintaining the scrubber and buffer.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot clean glass and windows.
• Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.
• Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the lounge, restrooms, and front end.
• Cross-train and work in other store areas, including the backroom, front end, and sales floor.
• Support and respond to front-end coverage needs.
• Follow merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss prevention controls and company policies, including shrink-reduction guidelines.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and help maintain a safe environment.
• Model established customer experience practices with internal and external customers.
• Support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
