About The Position

The Clarification Operator Assistant supports the production of high-quality sugar by helping extract and purify juice from sugar cane. Working as part of a team, the role helps ensure efficient operation of clarification and juice-heating equipment. Work is performed under general supervision, with moderate latitude to use initiative and some independent judgment within established policies, procedures, and techniques. At the end of the crop season, management may return the employee to a prior repair-season position, if applicable, or assign them to a repair-season position as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, plus two years of experience operating and maintaining industrial equipment, including some experience in juice clarification and filtration; alternatively, a combination of experience, certification, education, and training that demonstrates expertise in related areas.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to equipment operation.
• Mathematics skills required for the work.
• Ability to read manuals, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and perform job functions safely.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining consistent performance and adherence to operational standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment.
• Experience in juice clarification and filtration.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain juice heaters and related equipment during crop season.
• Assist with regular juice quality checks and adjust equipment settings as needed to maintain established standards.
• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on clarification and heating equipment, and report issues or malfunctions to the maintenance department.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to achieve project goals.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly at all times.
• Follow safety guidelines and protocols, perform work safely, and report safety hazards according to established policies and procedures.
