About The Position

Hut 8 is seeking a curious Civil & Structural Engineering intern to work alongside engineers on live data center infrastructure projects. The intern will gain hands-on experience with civil and structural systems, contribute to engineering designs and calculations that may be built, participate in site visits, and take ownership of a defined project from initial question through final recommendation and presentation. Work is guided and reviewed by licensed professional engineers (PEs), with safety and reliability prioritized. The position is based in the office at the company’s corporate headquarters in the Brickell area of Miami, Florida.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related field such as structural Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Environmental Engineering with a structures or site-design foundation.
• Expected to graduate in December 2027 or June 2028 with an undergraduate or graduate degree.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
• Coursework in structural analysis, reinforced concrete or steel design, geotechnical engineering, or hydrology.
• Genuine interest in site and structural design for data center infrastructure.
• Comfort with AutoCAD, MATLAB, or Python, and ability to learn new engineering software quickly.
• Track record of personal accountability, integrity, and respect for others, the company, and oneself.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to support team cohesion and successful project execution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with diverse groups and individuals.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines, while contributing to inclusive and cooperative teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Curiosity, eagerness to learn, willingness to ask questions, and readiness to do real work from the start.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, or similar in a class or lab.
• Work or internship experience in construction, geotechnical, or surveying settings, or hands-on building experience.

Responsibilities

• Learn about data center civil and structural systems, including foundations, structural steel and concrete framing, site grading and drainage, and equipment anchorage.
• Assist engineers with load calculations, member and foundation sizing, grading and drainage layouts, and drawing markups under the guidance and review of licensed PEs.
• Participate in site visits and follow field issues from initial question through resolution, observing construction of excavation, foundations, and structures.
• Evaluate cost, constructability, and redundancy while prioritizing safety and reliability.
• Own a defined project from the initial question through a final recommendation and present it to the team at the end of the internship.
