About The Position

Kimley-Horn’s Baltimore City, Maryland office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4 or more years of experience to join its Renewable Energy team. This is not a remote position. The engineer will work with engineers and designers on a variety of renewable energy projects and collaborate with industry professionals, jurisdictions, contractors, clients, and internal teams. The role includes design, permitting, coordination, and support for project management activities.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one within 12 months.
• Experience in the energy discipline, including design, permitting, and applicable software applications.
• Experience with task management, concept design, and assisting with project management tasks.
• Familiarity with client coordination, attending client meetings, and overseeing quality standards.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to build plan sets and other construction documents.
• Design experience involving utilities, site layout, drainage, due diligence, and permitting.

Responsibilities

• Work on renewable energy projects, including pipeline design, solar site design, battery storage design, and EV charging design.
• Support project due diligence and evaluation of site constraints.
• Coordinate jurisdictional permitting and agency interactions.
• Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules.
• Build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with industry professionals, jurisdictions, and contractors.
• Coordinate with clients, attend client meetings, and help oversee quality standards.
• Develop plan sets and other construction documents.
