About The Position

Under general supervision, performs professional engineering or surveying tasks for parks and recreation engineering projects. Responsibilities include planning, designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining parks, recreational facilities, and related engineering projects. Prepare contracts, inspect complex construction projects, and advise on major problems of construction. Uses independent judgment and initiative to apply standard engineering or surveying principles, make calculations, and implement minor design changes as needed to ensure a project proceeds according to scope, budget, and schedule. Responds to concerns or complaints from the public regarding park related, drainage, site, or water quality concerns. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, or a closely related discipline and four (4) years of professional engineering or land surveying experience.
  • OR Associate’s degree in civil engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, or a closely related discipline and six (6) years of professional engineering or land surveying experience.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Alaska within six (6) months of hire.
