Circulation Services Supervisor I

Frederick County Government•Urbana Regional Library, MD

About The Position

The Circulation Services Supervisor I oversees the daily delivery of circulation services at a Frederick County Public Libraries branch, ensuring consistent, efficient, and customer-centered operations. The role hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates circulation staff; maintains service standards; and resolves routine patron issues using established procedures. It manages moderately complex circulation functions, supports branch initiatives, and contributes to system-wide work teams without leading system-wide efforts. The supervisor exercises independent judgment in staff scheduling and customer-service resolution and recommends, rather than establishes, policy or procedural changes. Decisions are typically reviewed by higher-level leadership. The position reports to the Branch Administrator and may be subject to system-wide reassignment. Responsibilities also include providing general public service and assistance with library resources and technologies; supporting collections, facilities, meeting rooms, programs, and branch operations; handling money and routine financial reconciliation; and serving as Person in Charge on a rotating basis. Passport Acceptance Agent duties may also be assigned. This is an exempt, full-time position for 40 hours per week, with varied workdays and hours within FCPL's operating schedule. It includes full benefits. The listed compensation information notes that the upper pay range may apply to internal County transfers and promotions; external hire offers are made at the base wage rate.
