About The Position

We are seeking a data-driven, and detail-oriented Children's Sales Analyst to join our Sales Analysis team, supporting reporting and analysis across our children's book business. This role partners closely with editorial, marketing, and sales colleagues, translating data into insight that informs decisions from weekly sales tracking to author, agent, and estate conversations. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a genuine passion for the children's and young adult publishing category. They are eager to deepen their understanding of industry trends and interested in transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • NYC Hybrid preferred.
  • An analytical outlook and desire to look deeper to understand the data, translating findings into a clear story and actionable takeaways.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing asks.
  • Outstanding working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Interest in or familiarity with the children's and young adult publishing category.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience querying relational databases or data warehouses (Access, SQL, BigQuery, or similar) and using business intelligence tools preferred (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver weekly analysis and reporting on internal sales performance, highlighting key trends, opportunities, and areas of concern.
  • Contribute market intelligence and category insights to a weekly newsletter distributed to internal stakeholders.
  • Present analyses of market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments during company-wide monthly business reviews.
  • Identify titles facing challenges or opportunities and flag them for stakeholder attention.
  • Monitor title performance, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and communicating insights to stakeholders.
  • Conduct seasonal market-wide analyses of the children's category.
  • Develop data-driven analyses and reporting to support author, agent, and estate discussions.
  • Partner closely with sales account teams, sales management, and other departments such as editorial and marketing to anticipate and respond to data needs.
  • Participate in all relevant weekly meetings for the children's department.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting for business inquires.
