Child Respite Provider
About The Position
Provide respite care to a non-verbal, autistic young boy in Bloomer, Wisconsin. The family is seeking a caring, patient, and physically active caregiver who will build a bond with the child by engaging in his interests and spending one-on-one time with him. The child communicates by physically leading, making certain noises, and using books, and is learning to use a letter board. He enjoys active play, outdoor activities, books, community outings once comfortable with the provider, and spending time with others. Care will take place in the child's home until he is comfortable leaving with the provider. The role is part-time, scheduled Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at $14.13 per hour. If hired by a Member or their Managing Party, that party—not Consumer Direct Care Network—will be the legal employer and will have sole authority to hire or dismiss the provider.
Requirements
- Experience with children with autism or special needs.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable vehicle and auto insurance.
- Physically able to keep up with a young child.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and ensure the child's safety at all times.
- Provide personal care; the child uses diapers.
- Prepare meals.
- Accompany the child on local outings once he is comfortable leaving home with the provider.
- Engage one-on-one with the child through his preferred activities.
