About The Position

The Child Nutrition Cook prepares and serves meals that meet nutritional requirements, provide a variety of menu items, and offer healthy choices using fresh ingredients. The position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, for 9 months, with work scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a working lunch. Pay starts at $19.92 per hour. The position requires a post-offer drug screening and physical, funded by the District, before starting.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Valid South Dakota driver's license.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Complete a post-offer drug screening and physical before starting; these are funded by the District.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational training in chef's training or an associate degree program in a related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cooked foods such as main dishes, vegetables, sauces, and gravies.
• Keep production records for food preparation and serving.
• Wash small equipment after tasks and follow South Dakota sanitation and health guidelines.
• Adjust recipes for varying quantities.
• Keep the work area clean in accordance with South Dakota sanitation and health regulations.
• Store leftover food according to proper storage and safety procedures.
• Evaluate menu items for product standards.
• Follow safety procedures when using equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
