About The Position

The Child Advocacy Center APP (Advanced Practice Provider) role is a full-time position within the Department of GCMG Child Protection. This role is based at the Jeff Gordon Child Advocacy Center and Butterfly House, with potential for varied locations. The APP will perform initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments. They will record findings, perform minor medical/surgical procedures, write prescriptions, administer medications, and order/interpret lab and radiology examinations. The APP will determine patient treatment plans, document all patient encounters, and act as a patient advocate. Responsibilities also include attending group/practice meetings and contributing to policy development when requested. The Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) are dedicated to advocating for abused children, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies such as law enforcement, mental health, the District Attorney’s office, and Child Protective Services.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.
  • Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms.
  • Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity.
  • Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

  • ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred based population served.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care.
  • Performs minor office-based medical and/or surgical procedures.
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
  • Orders and interprets daily laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determines treatment plan for patient.
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested.
