About The Position

Gameday Bay is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to lead maintenance and engineering for its year-round indoor waterpark. Reporting to the General Manager, the role combines technical expertise and team leadership to keep water attractions, building systems, food and beverage equipment, and towel laundry operating safely and reliably. The position is expected to start in January 2027, ahead of the anticipated March 2027 opening of the indoor waterpark. The Chief Engineer directs daily engineering operations, leads and develops the maintenance team, manages preventive maintenance and work orders, and personally troubleshoots and repairs equipment within their training and authorization. The role oversees HVAC, indoor-pool dehumidification, aquatic systems, facility equipment, vendors, contractors, projects, budgets, supplies, and engineering records. It also partners with aquatics leadership on water quality and testing, coordinates specialist work when required, and provides approved basic troubleshooting for technology and AV systems. The position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and designated on-call coverage. It involves extended standing and walking, frequent bending and reaching and repetitive hand use, and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. The work environment may include equipment noise and vibration, heat, humidity, dampness, lint, dust, steam, wet floors, changing temperatures, linens, chemicals, cleaning products, and odors. A background check related to the role’s responsibilities is required.

Requirements

  • At least five years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance, mechanical systems, or plant engineering experience.
  • At least three years supervising a maintenance or engineering team.
  • At least three years managing commercial pool or aquatic systems.
  • Hands-on commercial HVAC and indoor aquatic dehumidification experience.
  • Knowledge of pool chemistry, mechanical and electrical systems, and safe maintenance practices.
  • Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and contractors.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Pool Operator certification and other required licenses or certifications.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and designated on-call coverage.
  • Ability to perform the described physical demands, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of a background check as it relates to the responsibilities of the role.

  • Maintain service and inspection records, manuals, inventories, warranties, and contracts; track recurring issues, corrective actions, renewal deadlines, and record-retention requirements.
  • Control tools, parts, supplies, and chemicals through approved purchasing and security procedures; maintain adequate stock and accessible Safety Data Sheets; enforce chemical labeling, segregation, handling, and storage requirements.

  • Inspect, maintain, and coordinate specialist service for pools, water attractions, mechanical equipment, safety interlocks, and emergency-stop protections; document work and remove unsafe equipment from service promptly.
  • Manage engineering budgets, expenses, utilities, and capital recommendations based on safety, reliability, and life-cycle cost; pursue efficiency without reducing required maintenance, ventilation, water quality, or safety.
  • Manage approved projects, estimates, schedules, protected work areas, permits, and inspections; obtain management approvals and verify completion and required reopening authorizations.
  • Oversee vendors and contractors through approved purchasing processes; confirm qualifications and insurance, communicate site safety expectations, verify work quality, and resolve outstanding issues and warranty claims.
