About The Position
Restaurant Associates is hiring full-time, part-time, and seasonal Chefs at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. The Chef directs, coordinates, and evaluates assigned kitchen, food-production, and food-service associates. The role supervises and participates in food preparation, cooking, and service, and ensures food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met. Previous restaurant and kitchen experience is required. Days and hours may vary; evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. The pay range is $18.00 to $24.00 per hour. Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the work of cooks and other associates preparing, cooking, and serving food.
- Ensure food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met.
- Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Prepare high-quality food according to standardized recipes and meet production, delivery, and service schedules; serve meals or prepare them for delivery.
- Ensure proper food presentation, quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
- Receive and inspect products and supplies for quality and quantity, and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; clean the workstation and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
- Help select and develop recipes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow company policies and safety procedures, including required protective gloves, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques.
