About The Position

The Checker provides friendly and courteous service while accurately checking out and bagging customer purchases. The role involves identifying produce and using product codes, processing manufacturer coupons, collecting the correct payment, following payment-handling procedures, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and replacing register receipt and coupon-machine tapes. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Store-level training is provided. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift (4–8 hours).

Nice To Haves

Store/Facility Teammates: at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Store Support Center Teammates: at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons, and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon-machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
