About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service and accurately processes customers’ purchases and payments. The role includes greeting customers, identifying produce and using product codes, processing coupons, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Training is provided at the store level. Candidates must be available until 10:00 p.m. and on weekends. The position offers 20–25 hours per week.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Must be available to work until 10:00 p.m. and on weekends.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on their feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline; invited candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Check out customer purchases accurately.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons, and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options using proper procedures.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
